Syria hails Iran’s political support at Astana talks

TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (MNA) – Iran’s parliamentary official Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Syrian Parliament Speaker Hadiya Khalaf Abbas held talks on bilateral ties in Damascus on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Speaker of the People's Council of Syria Hadiya Khalaf Abbas stressed that the victories of the Syrian nation and Army would have not been possible without all-out support from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

She went on to add, “Iran’s support is not restricted to military only; the Astana talks was the latest example of Iran’s political support to Syrian nation in the fight against terrorism.”

She further thanked Iran for its attention to all aspects of the Islamic world, particularly the Palestinian cause.

“The Americans used to announce in their reports since the start of the Syrian crisis that the Syrian Army could not withhold more than three months,” Amir-Abdollahian said, adding “now, many elites in the world are saying that Obama left but Assad is still standing strong.”

He went on to add, “Syria has had great achievements on the ground as well as the political sphere. In the economic field, despite all difficulties, the country has made wise decisions and the future certainly looks bright for Syria.”

Amir-Abdollahian further announced that Tehran will soon host an international conference in support of Palestine aimed at focusing all capacities of Muslim countries on Jerusalem and the plight of Palestinian people.
